Gothic Falconry at Whitby Abbey

4th May 2024 - 6th May 2024

Whitby Abbey
East Cliff
YO22 4JT

English falconry is a centuries old pursuit traditionally practices throughout history by the noble and titled. Hawks were kept at castles, country houses and even abbeys to provide sport and supply game for the larder. Our short falconry presentations will reveal some of those ancient traditions and introduce you to a few of the most popular hunting birds flown by our ancestors.

The Falconry displays will take place in the Cloister area of the abbey which is at the end of the visitor one way route. Displays will take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and last for approximately 30 minutes.
