Whitby Steampunk Weekend is a must-visit event that takes over the town twice a year, in February and July, transforming the town into a vibrant celebration of steampunk culture.
Recognised as one of the largest and most welcoming steampunk festivals in the UK, the weekend draws thousands of visitors, many dressed in their finest Victorian-inspired outfits. The main events take place indoors at the Whitby Pavilion, so the fun continues regardless of the weather.
What to expect:
- Free daytime entry with a full schedule of talks, presentations, and demonstrations
- A bustling Steampunk Retail Emporium across two trading halls
- Around 80 artisan and alternative traders offering accessories, clothing, curiosities, and handcrafted pieces
- A lively shopping and entertainment area with music and performances
- A family-friendly atmosphere with plenty to enjoy for all ages
The festival is a showcase of elegance, creativity, and style, with stunning costumes on display throughout the weekend. Highlights include beautifully crafted corsets, jewellery, gadgets, and unique statement pieces.
In the evenings, ticketed concerts and special events add extra excitement, giving visitors more ways to enjoy the festival after dark.
With Whitby’s famous Dracula heritage as a dramatic backdrop, Whitby Steampunk Weekend is a free event where history, imagination, and community come together in perfect harmony.
